Kindness has always helped people

Every single day, we have the ability to do something nice for someone. Many of us pass on by without noticing the opportunity that has just passed us by. I've compiled a short list of places where you can strive to be kind to someone or many people in your own way.

Together, we can create a world where kindness is the norm.

http://actsofkindness.org
- The official "Random acts of kindness" website. This site heads the "random Acts of Kindness" campaign. this sit he nonprofit organization that promotes the ability of us all to do a few random things on a daily basis to help others. There is a ton of great things on this site such as: bookmarks, calendars with daily acts of kindness one could do, social networking, it's just a great site.

- In their own words: "GiftofKindness.com is a website and global initiative with one primary purpose... to inspire others to be kind, compassionate and loving to one another... at home, at work, and in every interaction throughout the day. Kindness is love. It is joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Kindness is cultivating the Fruits of the Spirit within us all."

- This is a truly revolutionary site in that its entire goal is to promote kindness in every way. In has a huge amount of information to do with kindness and helping people. It also has links to 100's of kindness websites. A great place to start searching for your little niche int he kindness world on the web.

With all the stuff on the web that is available to help up be better people, why aren't we?

Help people, help ourselves

It's a given point that everyone needs our help. From the most rich person in the world who needs a little pick me up, to the poorest person who just needs some food to sustain their life. We all need help, and every one of us can do a little something to help improve our world.

We are all connected, so it makes sense to try to help everyone who come across your path. In an effort to promote this helping attitude and "helpful revolution" as I've come to call it, I have added a new item to this blog.

To the right, you'll notice a little box that flashes ways to lend a helpful hand, or a small thing that everyone can do to encourage, help, and thereby make the lives of other better.

In the same vein of helping people, here are 10 ideas to start helping:

- Help by taking out your neighbors trash when it is trash day.
- Help by putting newspapers that are in driveways on people's porch.
- Help by picking up excess newspapers of people who are on vacation.
- Help by mowing your neighbors lawn.
- Help by mowing anybodies lawn (Especially if you have one of those riding lawn mower)
- Help by buying a hungry person a meal.
- Help by paying for the next person in line at a toll.
- Help by giving a toll collector a lump sum to use to pay for as many people as it will cover.
- Help by paying for someone else's drive-thru order.
- Help by picking up a pencil someone dropped.

Help is not safe

When did we get to the point where the helping of people is too scary, or just plain not safe. When did we get so paranoid and fearful of our fellow human being?

2 cases in point.

1) I was driving down the road and there was a gentleman who was having quite a struggle getting from point A to point B, where ever point A and B were. I thought that he would like some help getting to point B and I asked if he would like a ride. He told me that he "would never get into a car with me". Even though I walked up to him with a smile, and my hand outstretched to shake his hand, he still did not trust me. He walked away mumbling something about me being a crazy person. All because I wanted to the help the old man out.

2) I saw a woman, her two kids, and a smaller little one in a stroller walking down the street. Not only did it look like she had her hands full with all the little children, it was raining. I live in Florida, so when it rains it can rain a full 1 inch with in 10 minutes. I pulled over and offered her a ride. As soon as I walked up she called somebody and looked very scared. I explained multiple times I wanted to help her kids, if nothing else, but she refused. I told her that she could stay on the phone with whomever she called, and she could hold my entire wallet with about $100 in it. With all this assurance, she still said no.

I told her I understood but what about the kids. I was really worried about them.

The most important thing was that her kids, especially the little one, was out of the hooreendous downpour. Now keep in mind, I was standing in the rain getting soaked as well during this whole crazy conversation. She said she appreciated the offer, but she just couldn’t. I watched her shuffle her offspring down the road and set an example for all three of them.

Have we got to the point int his society where we just can’t trust anyone? Is it really that unsafe, or is it just very advertised that it’s unsafe. Remember, the more scared we are the more we believe we need someone to look over us. Also remember, the more violence and negaticvity that is on the news, the more ratings the news will have. The American people like to watch misery! I challenge everyone who reads this, to research how dangerous it truly is in your neck of the woods. Do we really need to safeguard ourselves as much as they say, or are we betting our entire social lives on “What if…”?
