This isn’t a post to tell you where to find scholarships; this isn’t a post to tell you what “type” of scholarships that are out there. These scholarship posts will be the actual scholarships I’ve found, and where to get them. Come back often.

AFSA High School Essay Contest
The American Foreign Service Association National High School Essay Contest is open to all high school students whose parents are not in the United States Foreign Service. The winner will receive $2500 and a trip to Washington, DC with three members of their family. The winner’s school will also receive $500. The Resolve to Evolve Scholarship is about more than just making resolutions—it’s about creating change and furthering our evolution as individuals and a society. We must resolve to proactively and progressively confront challenges, however daunting. The “R2E” essay scholarship is an opportunity to move beyond finger-pointing and offer constructive criticism and workable solutions for problems facing an administration or an organization. Winners will not only receive a $1,000 college scholarship, but will also have their essays forwarded to officials who have the power to potentially act upon each essay’s suggestions. More

English-Speaking Union (Lucy Dalbiac Luard Scholarships)
This is a full scholarship for a junior year of study at a British university for students attending historically African-American institutions or Howard or Hampton universities. The applicants select the universities they wish to attend. Application must be submitted through the respective institutions of the applicants, not through the English-speaking union. ESSENCE Scholars Program
For 35 years, ESSENCE has been the only magazine dedicated to reflecting Black women and their lives. That mission has not changed. It has, however, evolved along with the women for whom the magazine exists. Today's ESSENCE speaks to a reader who is defined not by her age or income by her mind-set. Rather than addressing her as a woman with one interest, one style, and one perspective - we see her and speak to her as multidimensional. Time Warner Inc. acquired full ownership of ESSENCE Communications in 2005.

Fisher Broadcasting Minority Scholarship
In order to qualify for The Fisher Broadcasting Minority Scholarship, you must be of non-white origin. You must be at least a sophomore enrolled in: A broadcast, marketing, or journalism curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree at an accredited four-year college or university. A broadcast curriculum at an accredited community college, transferable to such a four-year baccalaureate degree program. A broadcast curriculum at an accredited vocational-technical school. If you are a permanent resident of the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana Or Georgia, tuition may be applied to an out-of-state school.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program
The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS), funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander Americans, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education, in all discipline areas and a graduate education for those students pursuing studies in mathematics, science, engineering, education, or library science.
